Abstract

Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) represent the rich intellectual traditions developed in India over thousands of years. These systems encompass diverse fields such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, agriculture, architecture, philosophy, yoga, linguistics, metallurgy, and environmental science. Ancient Indian scholars contributed significantly to global knowledge through texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Arthashastra, Ayurveda, and Siddha literature. In the modern era, IKS has gained renewed importance due to its sustainable, holistic, and eco-friendly approaches to life and development. This paper explores the origin, principles, applications, and relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems in contemporary education, science, technology, and sustainable development.
